The user experience of people with special needs on the websites of Egyptian universities

Abstract

This study aims to identify the user experience of people with special needs in websites from the perspective of the usability standard and the accessibility standard, through an analytical study of the user experience of people with special needs and the reality of their application on the websites of Egyptian universities.
In this, the researcher relied on the descriptive analytical approach, using a checklist to monitor the extent to which the websites of Egyptian universities are committed to providing assistive technologies for people with special needs that enable them to deal with the site and benefit from the services provided.
The study concluded with a set of results, the most important of which were: The commitment of (8) universities by 53.33% of the total Egyptian universities, the study sample, to provide assistive technology on their websites that supports people with special needs: Mansoura University - Ain Shams University - Zagazig University - Benha University - Assiut University - Tanta University - Kafrelsheikh University - Suez Canal University, while (7) universities, 46.67% of the total Egyptian universities, the study sample, did not commit to providing assistive technology on their websites, namely: Cairo University - Alexandria University - American University in Cairo - Egyptian Japanese University of Science Technology - Al-Azhar University - Menoufia University - Helwan University.
