An analytical study of intellectual production in library and information science In Arab periodicals issued during the years 2020-2021

Abstract

The study dealt with the analysis of (27) periodicals in the field of library and information science during the years (2020 and 2021), and the number of studies reached (884) studies and excluded book presentations and summaries of university theses (masters and doctorate). The "International Journal of Library and Information Sciences" was the highest in terms of the number of studies, reaching (107) studies, and the least of which was "Journal of Signal: Journal of Information Sciences, Archives and Library Science", of which (1) was issued in 2020 only, where the number of studies was (7), as well as the "Arab International Journal of Information and Data Technology", of which its first issue was issued in 2021, and the number of studies reached (7). Methodologically, the descriptive approach was more commonly used. The number of topics (keywords) for studies reached (2418) and the field of topics "technology topics, databases and applications" occupied the most used, reaching (463, i.e. 19%), and the least of them were the following areas: "cultural and Islamic heritage", where it was monitored (42 topics, i.e. 2%), then the field of "electronic platforms" amounted to 60, i.e. 2%. Diagnosing the reality of specialized intellectual production allows knowing the methods of developing and upgrading its level, to be the basis of the renewed and strong foundations that support the development of the science and profession of libraries and information,
