The Role of Ontologies in Knowledge Representation with Artificial Intelligence: A Literature Review

This study aims to the rooting of both applied and theoretical concept of knowledge representation systems and their role in information retrieval. Also, it intends to detect the most prominent knowledge representation different systems while focusing on Ontology systems as one of the most prominent knowledge systems. Moreover, this study attempts to verify the role of the Ontology systems and its gains in the framework of its employment within the Natural Language Processing systems (NLP). In In this context, the study seeks to survey and collect the intellectual production issued in both Arabic and English about The Role of Ontologies in Knowledge Representation with Artificial Intelligence, in general, and what is related to constructing ontology practically and linking it to artificial intelligence techniques. with the aim of identifying the characteristics of intellectual production about the study and analysing its characteristics. thematic, Objective, linguistic, and qualitative, depending on the descriptive approach by survey Method. The Researcher collected 41 items covering the period from 2012 to 2023 in Different forms like articles, conference works and scientific theses The study reached a set of results, the most important of which is the lack of intellectual production regarding the topic of “constructing ontology practically and linking it to artificial intelligence techniques,” as the percentage of studies on this topic amounts to 5.5% of the total published intellectual production.
