Abstract

The study aims to reveal the level of awareness regarding academic integrity and plagiarism, as well as to monitor common practices among female students and the sources of knowledge they rely on in this context, and to identify the factors influencing their commitment to the values of academic integrity. A case study approach was used, and a questionnaire was designed and randomly distributed to the department's female students. The number of responses reached 134 female students. The results showed that 85.7% of the students were aware of the concept, while 14.3% were not aware of it. The stages of spreading integrity awareness began at the undergraduate level and are being reinforced and developed at the undergraduate level by 92%. 74% of the 116 female students who were aware of the university's policies in general were aware of cheating policies in exams. The study recommended formulating a detailed academic code of conduct that includes types of violations and penalties, and disseminating it to everyone to ensure transparency and activate the role of academic advisors in raising their awareness of the risks and effects of cheating. It also recommended regularly applying measurement tools to measure the extent of students' and faculty members' commitment to integrity policies, and using the results to improve teaching and assessment conditions to reduce the psychological pressures that may push students to violate integrity rules, diversifying assessment methods, and providing continuous feedback.
