Our current era is witnessing a revolution in the field of artificial intelligence, which facilitates solutions to complex problems in various domains, from programming to video creation. This is achieved through programs like Blackbox.ai, FLIKI.AI, Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa, in addition to text analysis tools such as Humata, askyourpdf, intellippt, and Quillbot summarizer. However, this widespread adoption carries both benefits and risks, particularly in the library sector. Artificial intelligence can contribute to solving issues related to storage, retrieval, and cataloging, but it also raises concerns about its potential misuse. Simultaneously, there is a growing interest in green libraries, which aim to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability. This movement emerged in the early 1990s, defining green libraries as those designed, built, or renovated in an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient manner. Qatar National Library stands as a pioneering model in adopting cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies and green library standards. It utilizes AI techniques in cataloging, search, virtual assistance services, personalized recommendations, and data analysis. Furthermore, it incorporates green library standards in its design and construction, employing eco-friendly building materials, energy-efficient lighting and ventilation systems, and a design that prioritizes environmental sustainability. Consequently, Qatar National Library serves as a leading example of integrating modern technologies with sustainability principles to create a contemporary and environmentally responsible library.
