The role of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank in the information sector of the Egyptian plan for sustainable development (Vision of Egypt 2030)

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze and evaluate the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) and its role in the information system to achieve the goals of Egypt's Sustainable Development Plan (Egypt Vision 2030). It also aimed to assess its contribution to developing the Egyptian knowledge society, facilitating access to information for all Egyptians, and enhancing information awareness without discrimination, in line with the goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The study adopted a descriptive approach to describe, monitor, and analyze the Egyptian Knowledge Bank website in terms of its role, purpose, content, and beneficiaries, as well as to clarify and evaluate the Egyptian Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Data collection tools included structured interviews with Egyptian Knowledge Bank officials via email, as well as observation and a checklist to identify the most prominent characteristics of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank. One of the most prominent results is that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank serves all stages of primary and university education, in addition to scientific research, through its databases, which it available in all fields of human knowledge in all languages. It also supports Egyptian intellectual research production through initiatives and projects undertaken by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, both locally and internationally. It also contributes to eliminating information illiteracy among Egyptian citizens and supports the digital transformation in the field of education and scientific research, thus achieving the goals of Egypt's plan for sustainable development (Egypt Vision 2030).
