The extent of Reliance on Printed, Printed and Digital Journals as Sources of Information In the Library and Information Science Theses : Analytical Biliometrics Study

Abstract

This study deals with Presentation and analyzes specialized intellectual production published in both languages, Arabic and English on the subject of citation analysis in the field of libraries and information Especially the analysis of citations of scientific theses for library and information departments, as well as the analysis of reference citations for scientific theses in other disciplines, It begins by defining the objectives sought from preparing the scientific review and its limits, then sheds light on the methodology followed in preparing it and the sources that were referred to in selecting the components of intellectual production. Then, presenting the bibliographic features of the vocabulary of intellectual production and its qualitative, temporal and formal characteristics, in addition to the productivity of Arab and foreign periodicals.. Finally Presenting the Studies, which were classified according to some objective categories, arranged chronologically, and coming up with a set of general indicators. The most important of these is the diversity of citation analysis studies aimed at evaluating and measuring the impact of the forms and types of information sources, and the importance of this evaluation for all elements of scientific and research institutions. The scarcity of citation analysis studies is due to the difficulty of the citation analysis method and direct counting of usage times, in addition to the emergence of alternative and other measures.
